RE: Onan 5500 hard starting??

Here's a fault code 14 - overfrequency thread that should get you started.

RE: understanding battery amp hours

Let me point you to a calculator. It'll shed some lite for you.
I just spent several months down there running 3 Kyocera 130 watt panels w/ 440 aH of storage. I never dipped below 70% but then I only watched a couple hours of tv per day.

RE: Need help with inverter

I while back I used an AIMS PSW inverter in a CarPC install. The inverter acted flaky on small loads, but as soon as the pc was turned on everything would act normal.
So, for the heck of it. Try plugging in something that will put more of a load on the inverter. You may need a smaller less-intelligent MSW inverter depending on how small your load is.

RE: should underbelly sag?!

I've had the underbelly off my KZ several times. Likely what you're seeing is nothing more than a wave in the material. If a man can get that FRP material to install perfectly flat over that wide of area, he's a better man than me. I added sheets to the underside of my garage space and it's got more waves than the ocean that I'm parked next to.
If you're that worried about it, drop a corner and take a peak. Odds are you'll see nothing but empty space (KZ's not know for spending too much on insulation).

RE: Dry camping questions

I'd recommend that you "practice" before you go. It's far easier to get answers while you're dry camping in your yard than it is out on the trail.

RE: Surge protector needs-30A

I'm a member of the "more is better" club, so I'd be the last person to try to guess the minimum surge requirements. I can tell you that I installed a PD EMS-HW30C and love the bugger. An all-in-one solution IMO.
My particular install DOES leave the ATS to fend for itself, as I have installed it after the ATS to keep an eye on both shore and gen power.

RE: Underside Access Question

It's pretty much just a matter of taking off whatever it takes to get the under belly panel off.
Try to leave one corner of the sheet attached such that you can rotate it out of the way vice actually removing it, this will make it much easier to reinstall. You may wanna add insulation to the space while you have it opened.

Wink,
Mine is 32 cfm and like I said, it works like a champ.
Here's mine. It's hung off the lite and pointed directly at the cooloing fins.

RE: JT Strong Arms - WOW!!!!

After you tighten the t-bolts, bump your landing gear a tad. This will preload the JT's and should help to eliminate that last bit of wiggle.
O
Would that be extend or retract? Or does it matter? One thing I don't like about being in a camper is how much it moves, I will have to order a set of these.
Extend them a tad. It'll put a little strain on the t-bolts and eliminate any slop. After I lock the t-bolts, I just bump the extend button.

RE: Year-Round Living – Upgrades & Mod’s

There's plenty of heat loss areas in an rv that you can address to make it more comfortable.
When it gets that cold I cover most (all big ones) of the windows with reflectix and stuff foam pads lined with reflectrix into the vent openings. If you have a skylight, line it with reflectix as well.
Humidity can be a problem, so vent the rv whenever you get a chance.
My biggest problem in cold weather is with the basement plumping freezing. I eneded up sticking a small electric heater down there. Oh, and my dump vales froze closed, here again, I just set the little electric heater by the Y pipe until it warmed up enough to dump.

RE: 5th Airborne install by myself?

Does it consistently change the hitch height for everyone?
It set my rig 3" nose high, so I dropped the hitch. Measure your old pinbox before you take it off and then set the 5thA to the same height.
As for installing it yourself, I did it myself by resting it on a stool that was sitting on my tailgate.

RE: Pin Box Air Ride Couplers

The only problem I can see is it is so smooth I forget the trailer is behind me.
I always get a kick out of this comment. If you forget that a 30+ foot rig is behind you, then you probably lost it somewhere along the road.
I too run a 5th Airborne and while it certainly helps, I always know it's there. And even with a 5thA, some roads will still beat the black water out of you.

RE: AGM Overcharge????

Looking for something I can mount in my rig to monitor my battery.
I do recommend you get a GOOD digital voltmeter, They can be a real battery saver
What is a good digital voltmeter? Make, model, etc.
Where does one get a good digital voltmeter?
You can't go wrong with a Trimetric.

RE: Scangauge/OBD-II port problem

OBD port shares fuse with cigarette lighter in the E-series
People have been know to plug power hungry devices into their lighter sockets and pop the fuse. This is one of the little known side effects (at least on the Pords).

RE: Short Bed vs Long Bed

I like a shortbed with a Superglide much more than the longbed. That being said, I just traded my shortbed in and got a longbed. I just want the space for an aux fuel tank, toolbox and all the junk I haul around.
I notice a huge difference in maneuvering space required. I now have to pull up to the garage and backup before I can get the angle needed to pull into the garage. This thing is almost as long as a couple of class C motorhomes I've had.
I watched a guy back in a few spots down from me with a short bed Superglide equipped Cheby and it left me absolutely drooling.
If I did the camp ground thing more, I'd ditch this LB CC 4WD cow for something that I can turn in under half an acre.

RE: I have my football helmet and shoulder pads on............

I would think that if you have enough space in your toilet room, then you'd be able to do it. Residential toilet drains are 12" OC from the wall, which just happens to be what rv toilets are.
